At long last, soccer fans, the moment is here. On Friday, when South Africa takes the field against Mexico, the World Cup will officially be underway. Nothing attracts the global gaze quite like it. The first World Cup in Africa is a big deal. That is what making history is about. It is great honor and responsibility for South Africa to host these games in the manner and conditions as the past host nations have. South Africa is a very violent place. The World Cup host nations and people do not live with the crime rate of South Africa. This event is very important to South Africa as a nation, of course they're going to crack the whip and keep this in line.
